Have just been dropped off about 5km up the hill from Casey by the the ground crew heading of to the skiway.
Off we go for about a 7 km ski to Jacks Dong'a
The view heading down the hill to our destination. Not being used to cross country ski's and with the icy snow combined with the steep incline and trying to stay ahead of my sled i was hanging on barely in control. That is our accommodation for the night on the left and the toilet on the right.
Having a beer taking in the view standing on the moraine. The whole area was moving you could hear water running below the rocks with large boulders disappearing down holes closer to the cliff face. Occasionally in the distance the sound of falling pieces of ice falling into the ocean could be heard. Some of them we could see others out of view in the bay evidence was clear by a wave in the water that was created.
A pair of birds fling past.
The thunder box
A view inside all very well organised. It was the most spacious toilet cubicle i have had the simple pleasure of passing on what i had eaten the day before.
How is that for a view no need to rush you could take all day if you wanted.
Having a feed with a wine. From left to right that is Bec, Colin, Dylan and myself at the back. Learnt a new game a cards that night had the happening tunes going more wine and finally slept like a baby
A bit colder on the way back the next day. Had a distance of about 11 km to get back to station and with the melt streams had to pick our course to avoid getting wet.
Nearly back stopped to have a bite to eat, re-hydrate, and have a chat about our plan of attack.
